How the Score Calculator works
Type your word and each letter appears as a tile you can tap to cycle through its bonus — plain, double letter, then triple letter — to match whatever's printed on the board squares it's landing on. Set a word multiplier separately if the whole play crosses a double or triple word square, and add the 50-point bingo bonus if you're using all 7 tiles from your rack in one turn. The total updates live as you adjust anything.
Worked example
Say you're playing QUIZ across a triple letter square under the Q and a double word square. Q is worth 10 points on its own, tripled to 30; U, I and Z add their normal values on top; the whole total then doubles for the word multiplier. Tap the Q tile to set it to triple letter, set the word multiplier to "Double word", and the calculator does the rest — no need to work through the maths by hand mid-game.
Tips for using it well
- Letter and word multipliers only apply the first time a tile is placed on that square — don't add a bonus for a square that already has a tile sitting on it from an earlier turn.
- Check a few candidate words before committing to your play — a shorter word through a triple word square often outscores a longer one that misses it entirely.

Common questions
Does the bingo bonus get multiplied too?
No — the 50-point bingo bonus is always added flat, after any letter and word multipliers have already been applied to the word itself.
Why are letter values fixed rather than switchable between UK and US?
Standard Scrabble tile values are the same across UK and US sets — it's the word lists that differ, not the points on the tiles.
What if two multiplier squares are covered in one word?
Tap each letter tile individually to apply its own letter bonus, and use the word multiplier control for the highest word bonus square the play crosses — see How to Play for how multipliers stack.
Does a double word score count twice if a word crosses two double-word squares?
Yes — under official Scrabble rules, a word covering two double-word squares in the same play is doubled, then doubled again (an effective ×4), and two triple-word squares are tripled twice (×9). It's a rare board geometry, so the calculator's word multiplier only offers a single ×2 or ×3 tap; for that rarer case, set it to the first multiplier here and double the result yourself.
